MiG Ayesa Heating It Up Down Under

The wildly popular production of Burn the Floor just began its run at The Palms at Crown in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and crowds are seeing a familiar face in the blistering production. MiG Ayesa, who grew up in Australia and launched his music career in Oz, comes from New York City to star as the male vocalist in the stirring celebration of dance.

Aussies had numerous opportunities to see MiG excel during his early years in live gigs, theater, movies and television. After leaving Australia, MiG Ayesa became a household name in the U.K. after his starring role in We Will Rock You. He then won hearts and minds as a finalist in the CBS-TV show Rockstar: INXS, displaying a stunning ability to master both rock and ballads. MiG cemented his popularity with his debut album, "MiG" (Universal/Decca), and performances in the U.K., Asia Pacific, Australia and the U.S.

And then there was Burn the Floor on Broadway...MiG lit up the stage like a New Year's Eve fireworks display. Even those who have virtually worn out MiG's album, watched Rockstar: INXS, and have seen him at live gigs multiple times, were amazed by MiG in Burn the Floor. He has a way of raising the bar when you think the bar has reached maximum elevation.

When Aussies get reacquainted with MiG on stage, they'll see a new side of him. MiG has grown, even beyond the impressive talent people were accustomed to seeing. He's a true professional, and strives to deliver an outstanding performance, every night, every song. He succeeds.

Part of the growth comes from MiG directly...he has collaborated with proven artists and put in countless hours to enhance his skills. His voice is more consistent and controlled than before, yet packed with feeling. The feeling reveals the other aspect of growth. MiG has always been able to sing with expression because of his warm and caring nature, but now conveys even more feeling. He has found success in his career, yet has also experienced his share of broken promises and disappointments. MiG may not realize it, but some of that emotion and vulnerability comes through in his singing. It makes his performances even richer and more meaningful for audiences, and he connects with them on a whole new level.

MiG revealing more depth in his music

MiG has added polish and feeling to his performances, yet his magnetic personality has remained. He still has the fun sense of humor, the ready wit, and the warmth. Aussies will notice that quickly if they talk with him after a show. In spite of all the worldwide travel and bright lights, he's still grounded.

MiG's still fun, still grounded - photo by Mary Beth

For those lucky enough to get tickets for Burn the Floor, it will be a performance to remember. MiG will also put his talents on display in Hats Off! The History of Showstoppers and on the February 25 episode of So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Australia will recognize the familiar face, hear the familiar voice...yet see a whole new side of MiG that reaches more deeply and dazzles more brightly.

Sparks Fly in MiG Ayesa's Broadway Debut

MiG Ayesa set the stage ablaze with a breakout Broadway debut in Burn the Floor. MiG seamlessly stepped into the role of star male vocalist in the torrid dance extravaganza beginning in early January at the Longacre Theater. He stoked the fire with impeccable vocals, a striking stage presence, and impressive dance moves.

The Broadway version of Burn the Floor featured some of the world's top dancers, the engaging Mary Murphy, the strong voice of Rebecca Tapia, and first-rate musicians. MiG blended with the outstanding cast, yet his charisma and exceptional talent stood out. As MiG proved in Rockstar: INXS and We Will Rock You, his versatility is dazzling. He excelled with a variety of musical styles. Burn the Floor amazed, with styles from the Samba to the Swing, from the Waltz to the Cha Cha.

MiG sparkled in all numbers, yet some held particular appeal. He ignited the full house with The Dirty Boogie, showcasing a contemporary style and flair, and athletic dance moves. The stage came alive as standout vocals and dance flowed together into one steamy sea of talent.

The infectious and upbeat Magdalena was a big hit, as MiG mastered the song and revved up the crowd with an intense yet smooth delivery. He filled the stage with a remarkable presence and passion.

MiG between performances of Burn the Floor

Time stood still as MiG sang a captivating Burn for You, layered with yearning, angst and irresistible tenderness. There aren't many singers who can hold their own when volume and heavy instrumentals are stripped away, but MiG shines. He revealed even more depth of talent and emotion as he sang under the spotlight.

When energy and passion meet polish and precision, it's nothing short of perfection. MiG's dynamic performance in Burn the Floor created a buzz. It forged a promising path that many fans hope will include an enticing combination of both stage and live gigs.

MiG will join Burn the Floor as it goes on the road to Australia, beginning its run at The Palms at Crown, Melbourne, Victoria on February 20 and lasting through March 7. I saw the show on Broadway twice, and it wasn't enough. MiG is sensational in Burn the Floor, and the dancing and choreography are some of the best you'll ever see. Aussies - get your tickets while they last, and look forward to a superb musical experience.

Magical MiG Memories Countdown - # 4 and #3

We're getting close - read on to see #4 and #3 in the countdown of the Top 10 Magical MiG Memories, in honor of Team MiG's four years of supporting MiG Ayesa. The top memories shared so far are:

#10 - Rockstar: INXS
#9 - Cleveland Gigs
#8 - Team MiG Photo Shoot in LA
#7 - QUEEN Rock & Symphonic Spectacular
#6 - We Will Rock You Tour and Online Community Project
#5 - The Release of MiG's Debut Album

Let's bring on the next two!

#4 - Rockstar Supernova Tour - Chicago
The Rockstar Supernova Tour made a stop in Chicago, and Team MiG showed up in full force. MiG was in Chicago for about a week, so we "street teamed" with a vengeance. Nancy from Team MiG set up a few extra gigs so Chicago could see MiG in action. MiG was joined on the tour by his dear friend from Australia, Darryl Beaton, who is an awesome musician and great guy.

The day of the Rockstar show, a few of us ventured over to the Park West to explore the venue. The Supernova tour bus was parked at the curb, so we asked if we could check it out. We got the green light, so boarded the bus and looked around. When we came out, we were shocked to see MiG, but probably not as shocked as MiG was to see us emerge from the Supernova bus!

The show was simply fabulous, and MiG enthralled us from beginning to end. To get a little tour of your own of the Rockstar Supernova Bus, and to hear MiG sing Wrapped Around Your Finger (on his debut album) that night, watch this entertaining and humorous video that MiG made. Later MiG and Darryl rocked the house at Howl at the Moon - they were on fire! Those dueling pianos will never be the same.

MiG ready to rock

Our street teaming kicked into high gear the next day. Speaking of the moon, I asked for it...and got it. Toni, Mary Beth and I got MiG a gig at the AVP Beach Volleyball Tournament for two days. As MiG and the boys searched for a power source, we were hangin' at the beach....FREEZING! I was so cold my teeth were chattering, and I ended up being sick for two weeks. I must say it was quite worth it, however! The second day brought in an audience of 7,000 people, and a radio station interviewed MiG, so it was rewarding to know the street teaming paid off.

#3 - Canal Room, New York City

We were thrilled when MiG announced his first U.S. concert would be at The Canal Room in New York. The thought of a concert with all MiG - all the time proved too much to resist. A big group from Team MiG converged on the city, with some traveling across the country. It was a pleasure to meet face-to-face with friends from Team MiG and MiGNation. We made the most of our time in the Big Apple by going on shopping sprees for purses, having lunch in Little Italy, and ogling the mouth-watering pastries in shop windows.

The night of the Canal Room gig, we piled in Cheryl's car, and much to our surprise, managed to squeeze in about nine of us. As we passed a police officer, he smiled, probably knowing we were harmless and our only crime was laughing too hard.

We arrived at the Canal Room, and were excited to meet MiG's family. They were all so welcoming and such lovely people. As the concert approached, The Canal Room was electric. MiG lit up the place with his stage presence, talent and personality. We became the Team MiG paparazzi - snapping photos non-stop. (MiG has become accustomed to that!) MiG put on an outstanding show we couldn't forget. We considered ourselves lucky to be in attendance for the debut of MiG's original She Loved. He asked if we liked it...uh...YES! After I heard the line "she loved walking in the rain," it was over. Little did we know that the song would make MiG's first album and that his video would end up on MTV-Asia's playlist. Check out videos of two other standout songs from the show, Life on Mars (also on MiG's album) and Lola (videos by Donna).

MiG stayed for one of the longest Meet & Greets on record, with a line stretching across the room. He was incredibly thoughtful to devote his time to talking to each person, signing autographs and posing for even more photos. Cammy's husband, Doug, went above the call of duty by taking countless group shots with MiG, and having multiple cameras dangling from his arms! The trip ended much too quickly, but we still smile about the special night we shared.

Tomorrow #2 and #1 will be revealed!

Magical MiG Memories Countdown - #6 and #5

The countdown continues in the Top 10 Magical MiG Memories, in honor of Team MiG's four years of supporting and promoting MiG Ayesa. Check out the Team MiG Facebook Fan Page to see a photo album with selected pictures from the Top 10 Magical MiG Memories. So far the countdown is:

#10 - Rockstar: INXS
#9 - Cleveland Gigs
#8 - Team MiG Photo Shoot in LA
#7 - QUEEN Rock & Symphonic Spectacular

Onward and upward....

#6 - We Will Rock You Tour and Online Community Project

As the star attraction of the We Will Rock You - Asia Pacific Tour, MiG jetted to South Africa for rehearsals, and then began an almost year-long tour. MiG gained legions of fans as he wowed crowds in New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand. It presented a wonderful opportunity for MiG, and we were happy that people in the Asia Pacific could get introduced to the same incredible person and performer that we knew. At the same time, it was important to keep MiG's existing fans in the U.S., Philippines, U.K., Australia, Canada and other countries connected for all those months. It also gave us another way to promote MiG.

Nicole and Davyd from Aussie Queens (a Queen fan site) and I launched an online community project to include major MiG fan sites. It offered a great chance to bring everyone together. MiG kindly agreed to provide updates, which included a letter, radio interview, and videos. The ultimate video involved fans. We asked each fan group to submit a question for MiG. While at his hotel in Hong Kong, MiG created a video and took great care in answering every question with such warmth and humor. I was blown away. I shouldn't have been, because MiG strives for excellence in everything he does. If you watch MiG's video with answers to fans' questions, you'll be impressed too.

#5 - The Release of MiG's Debut Album

MiG had a dream of becoming a recording artist, and we anxiously waited for that dream to become a reality. The news that he'd be working with a world-class team and recording at such places as Abbey Road like the Beatles did, whipped us into a frenzy. MiG was so deserving of that support and collaboration. We chomped at the bit for a chance to listen to MiG's impeccable vocals and unparalleled emotion on a CD, iPod and the radio. Even more than that, we were ecstatic that MiG would have within his grasp something he'd worked tirelessly to achieve. After encountering a couple delays along the way, MiG persevered. It couldn't happen for a more special person. The CD, "MiG," was released in the Philippines and Australia before being unveiled in the U.S. and Canada (you can get it on Amazon or in the Store on MiG's Web site). The wait was too much to bear...but thanks to Rah at MiGCentral and our friends at MAP (MiG Ayesa Pinoy Fans), we could get our hands on the first release.

The album featured a masterful collection of classic songs elevated by MiG's talent and interpretation. I was amazed by how brilliantly MiG struck the perfect balance between passion and control in every note. The addition of three MiG originals, She Loved, You and I, and Could It Be (U.S. version), made the album priceless. As wonderful as the classics were, the originals showcased MiG's immeasurable talent, creativity and beautiful soul. After listening, we couldn't wait to post reviews and spread the word about such an artistic accomplishment.

Check out #4 and #3 tomorrow!

Magical MiG Memories Countdown - #8 and #7

In honor of Team MiG's birthday, I'm counting down the Top 10 Magical MiG Memories in our four years of supporting and promoting MiG Ayesa. Yesterday I shared:

#10 - Rockstar: INXS
#9 - Cleveland Gigs

And now to unveil the next two:

#8 - Team MiG Photo Shoot in LA
Not long after Rockstar: INXS ended, two of Team MiG's founders, Laura and Nancy, had the Team MiG gang at the edge of our seats. They piqued our interest with a surprise, saying they'd make "the big reveal" on a certain night. The night was upon us, and a large portion of the Team MiG crew scrambled to get online for the announcement. The news that MiG had done a photo shoot in Los Angeles had rabid MiG Ayesa fans reeling. In addition to having all those MiG photos to enjoy, we were over the top with excitement about having all that new material to use for promotional online banners and buttons.

Here are a few shots from MiG's photo shoot to feast your eyes upon...

#7 - QUEEN Rock & Symphonic Spectacular
During the last two summers, MiG has performed in these popular concerts at picturesque locations throughout the United Kingdom. Queen fans and supporters of MiG and his co-stars have braved torrents of rain and dipping temperatures some nights. Team MiG members have had some special time with MiG and enjoyed the camaraderie with other friends and fans. And the shows were indeed spectacular.

Magical MiG Memories Countdown - #10 and #9

The celebration begins, as Team MiG Global marks four glorious years of supporting MiG Ayesa on October 6. Birthdays often bring thoughts of gifts, and this one is no exception. The gifts we've received haven't come covered with shiny wrapping paper or adorned with a bow. They've come in the form of friendships we've grown, and of a supremely talented guy who dreams of taking the world's breath away with his music.

Team MiG was born when MiG Ayesa stepped on stage for CBS-TV's Rockstar:INXS. In the four years since then, MiG has made many at Team MiG feel as though birthdays come much more than once a year. The heart beneath the rockstar makes every day of work worth it. We've been having a ball, and MiG has made it special.

To mark our 4th Birthday, let's revisit some of those special memories. Countless moments stand out...but I'll limit it to 10. Through October 6, I'll count down to reveal the Top 10 Magical MiG Memories. Here we go....

#10 - Rockstar: INXS
Rockstar: INXS has to be in the Top 10. It helped bring MiG and everyone from Team MiG together. During all those weeks, it was our mission to vote for MiG with reckless abandon, and we heaved a collective sigh of relief every time he survived for the next show. I remember being impressed with most of the people who considered MiG their favorite. MiG had a way of attracting kind, intelligent, talented and giving individuals. Those are traits they have in common with MiG.

#9 - Cleveland, Ohio Gigs
MiG hit the road on a national Hard Rock Cafe Tour with a stop in Cleveland. After one night at the Hard Rock, he followed it up with a night at McCarthy's. MiG took the time to greet everyone before and after the shows, and posed for pictures with people of all ages.

MiG's performance at McCarthy's was spellbinding. He treated us to two fabulous originals from his debut album "MiG" (Decca/Universal) - You and I and Could It Be. I still can't get enough of them.

Singing with heart and soul

Our street teaming exploits for MiG in Cleveland amused some people, as our stealth operations focused on posting flyers for MiG's show in the most creative of locations. Some nice security guards refrained from giving us a hard time, so we escaped unscathed! The weekend was one to remember.

Tomorrow...Memories #8 and #7!

MiG Ayesa LIVE in New York - Part 2

Welcome to the second half of our exploits and adventures in New York to see MiG Ayesa live and in technicolor. After our first two nights of MiG Ayesa at The Australian and Eight Mile Creek, to our delight, MiG played another night at Eight Mile. The previous gig included MiG and what he proclaimed his band of merry men in a jam session that rocked our socks (or high heels) off. The second night at Eight Mile featured MiG alone with his keyboard, and it couldn't have been more special.

Up close and personal with MiG at Eight Mile Creek

He's got personality plus

The intimate setting presented the perfect environment, and MiG's magnetism and professionalism had everyone eating out of his hand. MiG lead us down familiar, treasured paths with song selections like Yesterday and Let It Be, which are my two all-time favorite Beatles tunes. His interpretation of both songs had me completely entranced. MiG also introduced us to new musical experiences, including his original Escape. He hadn't performed the song for about 10 years, so we felt as though we'd won the lottery. All evening, MiG's seemingly effortless vocals and versatility impressed the crowd, and almost presented a challenge - is there any song he can't do?!?

Mr. Versatile

Giving it all he's got

He invited us to make requests, so one of us obliged and asked for A Song For You. I can't imagine it ever sounding more beautiful. Somehow MiG managed to come through every time, regardless of what we requested. He even pulled off Without You by Nilsson, La Bamba and Donna. Some of his bandmates from Thursday night popped in for a few musical interludes, including Luke and Mike.

The Dynamic Duo - MiG and Luke

Much to our dismay, the night was ending, but not before MiG flashed an endearing smile for pictures, and signed photos for those who couldn't make the trip to New York. In all the time I've known MiG, no matter how weary he may be after a night of performing, he still takes the time to connect with those who come to support him. To see a photo album of MiG during our weekend in New York, visit the Team MiG Facebook fan page and become a fan!

For the last event of the weekend, MiG took on the duties of celebrity judge for GMA Pinoy TV's Pinoy Dance Showdown in Bayonne, New Jersey. The competition featured young, talented hip hop dancers. A sincere thank you to Grace for her thoughtfulness, and for stopping to visit us before the show. We greatly appreciated her kindness and enjoyed the show immensely. TV viewers around the world could also enjoy the performances, because GMA Pinoy TV taped the event to broadcast it to a worldwide audience. The competition was intense and exciting, yet the highlight for us was none other than MiG Ayesa. He exhibited a talent for effectively evaluating the dance competition and offering clever, entertaining and helpful comments as a judge.

MiG took his turn on stage as a celebrity performer and was accompanied by Luke Dolahenty. MiG sent shockwaves through the crowd with a rocking and radio-ready original called To Whom It Must Concern. I've heard the song before on MiG's MySpace and his site mig-music.com, but MiG nailed it and hit a new level that made my heart pound. The acoustics didn't enable us to pick up some of the sound on video, but take my word for it - it was SMOKIN.' Those who dug the way MiG rocked it on Rockstar: INXS will be all over this song. Check out the video of To Whom It Must Concern. I give one rousing vote for adding the track to MiG's next album. The lyrics are incredibly creative and gripping, and it's got a catchy sound with a good beat. The performance ended the weekend in New York with a bang.

MiG's live shows rock this world. It's not just the energy, the rich tone, or the smooth delivery. It's not just the sense of humor, charm, or the way he expresses himself so you hang on every note, anxiously awaiting what’s coming next. There's something else that's difficult to put into words. Perhaps it can best be described in this way....MiG's performance locks people in, and when they meet him, he throws away the key. His performances amaze an audience, and after spending time with MiG, there's a new light in their eyes. MiG is the most loving person I know, and that makes an immediate impact. He energizes and makes people feel more alive - not only through the incredible music he shares, but through his sincerity and warmth. It's personal, it's lasting, and it's a gift MiG gives to everyone he meets.

It's a gift you get to unwrap every time you see MiG, and rather than losing its worth over time, it only grows in value.

Keep the light shining and pass it on,

MiG Ayesa LIVE in New York - Part 1

I consider myself fortunate to have seen MiG Ayesa perform live many times since his popular days in We Will Rock You and on CBS-TV's Rockstar: INXS, but now MiG Ayesa has completely outdone himself. MiG pulled off a whirlwind week of performances in New York City and New Jersey, and this time left me speechless. Thank goodness blogs don't require speaking! I'll give you some insight into the adventure, and maybe you'll understand what makes MiG's fans count the days until MiG's next performance, video and album.

The first night began with MiG at The Australian, a hotspot at 20 W. 38th St. in New York City. The food was fabulous and the service even better. Matt and the rest of the team went out of their way to make our visit a special one. MiG was testing out a new keyboard, but the headset didn't detract from the performance in any way. MiG was his usual fun and friendly self, and hung out with us between sets. He asked if we had any requests and treated us to songs ranging from Piano Man to Buses and Trains, from Maybe I'm Amazed to Unchained Melody. I'm completely hooked on his original music, so was particularly fond of the beautiful message and imagery of One Sunset at a Time, the irresistible sweetness and vulnerability of Blown Away, and the heart-wrenching She Loved from his debut album. Some fun-loving patrons joined MiG to belt out You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin', which proved quite entertaining!

It's a guy thing - singing and dancing to You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'

What's MiG up to? That's one devilish grin!

Next stop on the Big Apple tour - Eight Mile Creek at 240 Mulberry St. A trip to New York wouldn't be complete without a night at Eight Mile Creek. Whether in high heels or flip flops, one feels comfortable and right at home at Eight Mile Creek. The food is fantastic, and the fun never ends. Andrew, Luke and Sarah deserve kudos for going above and beyond with their outstanding service.

MiG surprised us by jammin' with - as he called them - his merry band of men. What a talented group of musicians. MiG's voice is stunning without any music, and when he's backed by a first-rate band, it's out of this world. The incredible jam session set the crowd on fire, and many danced the night away. I marveled at the talent on display. In spite of seeing MiG sing on numerous occasions, I was thoroughly impressed by this side of him. It felt as though I was getting to discover something new and wonderful. MiG has got to be the best kept secret in New York. I can keep a secret, but this one should be shouted from the rooftop of the Empire State Building.

Having a laugh during the jam session

Keyboard magic

The night flew by, but we could console ourselves knowing the next gig of the weekend was on the horizon. Stay tuned for Part 2 of MiG LIVE in New York - with more pictures and tales of the amazing weekend. Also check out some of our tweets from New York on Twitter (search for #migny).

Nothing Dampens Spirit of MiG Ayesa, UK Queen Fans

One of my favorite quotes is "Life isn't about surviving the storm, but learning to dance in the rain." MiG Ayesa and fans at the recent Queen Rock & Symphonic Spectacular in the United Kingdom accomplished just that - they braved blustery winds, rain, and a sea of mud to rock to the music of Queen. Standout performers MiG Ayesa, Kerry Ellis, Peter Eldridge and Gina Murray didn't flinch, delivering Queen favorites in stunning fashion. The orchestra and rock band followed suit and showcased their talent despite the dreary weather.

MiG in the UK at the Queen Symphonic Spectacular - photo by Wend 2008

What could've been a washout was transformed into a knockout by MiG, fellow musicians and the people from Northumberland and beyond. Rather than stay home and complain about the hideous weather, UK residents turned out in droves, adorned in a rainbow of raingear. The Northumberland Gazette captured the essence of the evening and posted a slideshow. After the show, fireworks punctuated the darkness over Alnwick Castle, celebrating a victory over the elements.

As I consider how those in the UK refused to let a little - no - a LOT of rain and foul weather get them down, I'm reminded of the spirit and strength of the people of the UK. They've shown those qualities many times, in many ways. They deserved an awesome show, fireworks, and a lot of admiration for their collective positive attitude and ability to slosh through any obstacle and maintain their sense of humor.

I'm also reminded of storms MiG Ayesa has encountered during his climb up the ladder in the music business. MiG has experienced plenty of sunny days by winning starring roles in first-rate theatrical productions, and earning the spotlight as an audience favorite on the CBS-TV show Rockstar: INXS. MiG also created a highly-regarded debut album (Universal/Decca) that's available on Amazon, and landed a plum role with the Boston Pops in Handel's Messiah Rocks (check your PBS schedule in the U.S. - this is being shown starting August 1 in certain markets). Yet along with those bright moments, MiG has seen his share of shadows.

MiG is no stranger to unfulfilled promises and disappointments. For some of us who know MiG and have seen the depth and breadth of his talent, it's not easy to watch some who aren't quite so talented or engaging take a prominent role in the spotlight. More people will get a chance to be electrified by one of MiG's performances and feel their hearts rip out after a touching ballad. More people will catch a glimpse of the wonderful person behind the music. When that happens, MiG will seize the spotlight and never let it go.

Until that day, MiG and all those who believe in him will keep dancing in the rain with style and grace.

Keep the light shining,

Kay

MiG Ayesa: The Journey

MiG Ayesa's road to becoming a recording artist has been quite a journey...MiG has starred in Ben Elton and Queen's We Will Rock You in London and the Asia Pacific, been voted to the Top 3 of CBS-TV's reality show Rockstar: INXS, and performed on tour around the U.S. Other impressive legs of MiG's journey have included releasing a stellar first album (Universal/Decca), having his music video "She Loved" on MTV-Asia, and his original song, "Like a Child's First Step" played on the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light.

To some artists, the only acceptable journey is standing-room-only concert halls every night, and girls screaming their name as they emerge from a private jet. But is that what true success really means? No - a very loud, emphatic, and resounding no.

Sometimes an artist doesn't find himself on the expressway to stardom he mapped out for himself, but instead on the scenic route. It may seem like a colossal wrong turn that adds time to the trip, but in reality it's the perfect road. Instead of speeding along on a straight highway, and seeing nothing but the car ahead, the scenic route offers snow-capped mountain peaks, blankets of white sand beaches, and skies painted with dazzling sunsets.

Beauty lives on the scenic route, from the freedom to enjoy solitude without a bodyguard, to being able to look into the eyes of people you've touched with your kind nature and original music. There are artists who don't have the freedom to go where they want without being chased down by photographers, and who never get the chance to see and feel how they touch others. MiG has those chances. He has touched numerous lives by signing every autograph, talking to every person who has waited to see him after a show, and treating people with respect and warmth.

Signing an autograph

Relating to the audience - photo by Cammy

Because of those actions, the remarkable music MiG has created has had more of an impact. Music that comes from the heart has even more power to touch people and make a difference, but people have to know the heart first.

Many have come to know MiG's heart. That's why he has so many people behind him. They believe in MiG's talent, and they believe in MiG. And many truly love MiG for the person he is, not because he's been on TV, or his name has been in lights. Some artists will never experience that kind of passion and support - a driving, never-say-die attitude that will make MiG's successes even sweeter.

Putting his heart into a song at Eight Mile Creek in New York

The expressway and the scenic route both reach the same destination. The secret is to recognize all the beautiful views that are found on the journey. There will be bumps and roads paved with broken promises, but over every horizon another panoramic view awaits. Giving up is never an option, because the final destination may be just around the next bend in the road. When MiG reaches the destination he so deserves, many of the people he's shared his heart with along the way will be there celebrating with him.

Keep the light shining, and pass it on.

MiG Ayesa: What We Need

When MiG Ayesa is rockin' and rollin', he makes hearts race and energy levels soar into the stratosphere. Audiences who saw MiG belt out the songs of Queen in We Will Rock You can attest to that fact, and throngs of viewers of CBS's Rockstar: INXS would agree MiG Ayesa commanded the stage in convincing style. There's a more mellow side of MiG too, and both styles have the spellbinding power to help you escape your cares and lose yourself in the music.

Sometimes losing yourself for a while is what you need most. Music can be soothing, it can lift you up and give you strength to face tomorrow. When an artist sings with passion and feels the words he's singing, the music can touch you, change you. The words and notes MiG Ayesa weaves together flow into the deepest and most empty parts of your soul, and refresh it like a spring rain. Even if in a small way, you're a better person after hearing it. It gives you hope, which you in turn will give others through your attitude and the choices you make. It reminds you that things are better than they seemed yesterday.

I went to see MiG perform at Eight Mile Creek in New York City several days ago, and was so touched by the person he is and by his performance. I've seen him on numerous occasions, and every time he seems more special. MiG has an incredible voice that is most impressive without the frills and masking of backup vocals or heavy instrumentals that many artists need. His voice stands on its own and captures you. MiG is genuine, a kind and loving person who deserves to be on a stage with millions watching every night. On this night MiG was in an intimate setting, and everyone in the full house was fortunate to experience it. He has a unique gift for connecting with people.

The combination of MiG's unlimited talent, a giving heart and a great sense of humor made for an unforgettable night. It was also a pleasure to hear MiG sing with some other talented artists, including Luke, Gitano, Sara and Nate. I can't wait to go back to Eight Mile Creek for another Thursday night of MiG and friends, great food and an inviting ambiance (240 Mulberry St. in Soho - call ahead to make sure MiG will be there). Many thanks to Andrew and Luke for taking such good care of us.

MiG at the Mike

MiG took requests and sang favorites by Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, the Beatles and more. They would've been impressed, because MiG is a professional, and he puts so much into every song he sings. Every song was fabulous. Yet the biggest treasures of the evening were MiG Ayesa originals. The consensus by reviewers and fans on MiG's first album was that the originals were outstanding. That hasn't changed. We need an album of MiG originals. Whether it was Blown Away, I'm On My Way, She Loved, or others, they were beautiful. I could hear them a hundred times, and it still wouldn't be enough. There's something about MiG giving you a glimpse into his soul through his own creations. You experience an indescribable connection, and feel something inside of you has changed.

A Man With Style

It would take a label with vision to recognize an artist who can transform people. Maybe it's hard to see because there are so few artists who can do it. Some labels want an easy buck and follow the same tired old formula...others may see things as they could be and invest their dollars and experience into becoming a label that discovered what others may not have seen. One thing we need in today's world is an artist with class and sincerity we can believe in, who has the ability to communicate a belief in tomorrow and a love in today through his music and his personality. The world is longing for it. Every day, more people are realizing that man is MiG Ayesa. He's unique, and he's relevant. Now we just have to shine a light on it so more people can feel it.

MiG Ayesa: The Man's Got Style

MiG Ayesa has style - and not just one style. There's the MiG Ayesa who rocked the lights out with his portrayal of Galileo in Ben Elton and Queen's We Will Rock You. There's also the MiG Ayesa who handled classic rock songs with energy and ease on the CBS reality show Rockstar: INXS. MiG Ayesa has the musical talent, creativity and stage presence to make just about any song sizzle. Rock and roll seems effortless for MiG, yet he surely packs a punch.

MiG excels at these styles, yet there's another MiG Ayesa...the man who has a style all his own. You see it when you hear an original song from MiG's debut album. You also see it when you watch his "She Loved" video on YouTube or MTV Asia. You can't help but see it when you catch a live MiG performance.

When MiG Ayesa sings his heart out for an audience, he really does sing his heart out. There's so much of him in the words and notes. MiG shares it all with you. I marvel at how he can maintain a style that's so appealing and unique, and still create song after song that's fresh and intriguing. They're all so different, yet similar in style.

Perhaps MiG's style especially connects with others because there's a vulnerability about it. His voice is so true, so open, without being masked by loud music, boisterous back-up singers or gimmicks. He exposes every note for all to hear. As if that's not enough to embrace, MiG opens a window to his soul with lyrics and melodies that express his feelings about life and love. That kind of vulnerability is irresistible and lasting. I want to feel music, not only hear it. I also want to trust that an artist is genuine and sincere, and not simply "singing at" the audience. One can feel the difference. When the artist adds good humor and connects with those listening, it all comes together for a magic experience.

The MiG Ayesa we know, with his warmth and winning style, will be performing Thursday nights at Eight Mile Creek in Soho, New York City beginning February 12 at 7:30 p.m. It will be intimate, moving and memorable. There isn't a better type of venue to experience all MiG Ayesa's style has to give. It will be just you, MiG, and the music. If you're ready for a great voice and sensational music that makes you feel something, don't miss it. You may meet some new friends there from Team MiG who traveled from throughout the U.S. and Canada, because we can't bear to miss out on too many chances to see MiG and enjoy his very special style. I think after you see MiG Ayesa, you'll feel the same.

Keep the light shining,
