A Sneak Peek at MiG Ayesa's New CD

Ok. The cat is out of the bag. MiG Ayesa's much-loved original Blown Away is on MiG Ayesa's much-anticipated CD, and you can count on it blowing you away. You can get a glimpse of the treasure to come by checking out MiG's Blown Away e-card. It features video of MiG in action, recording Blown Away at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. MiG will unveil a new version of Blown Away on his CD, but the captivating sounds on the e-card are close to perfection.

MiG's Blown Away e-card watch, listen and send the e-card

After seeing the video and hearing Blown Away, you can share the e-card. It's a good bet your friends and family will dig it - listeners at OurStage have already given the song a big thumbs-up. They rated it the 3rd best song of 438 entries in the Soft Rock category. Those of us who melt within the first few measures of Blown Away heartily agree: it's a chart-topper.

MiG is in Vancouver right now getting ready to star as lead male vocalist in the sensational and scintillating Burn the Floor. The show opens April 13 and he'll be bringing the curtain - and the house - down April 18. The shows hits Toronto April 22 to May 1, and West Palm Beach, Florida May 4 to May 9. MiG owns the stage in Burn the Floor with his combination of smooth vocals and impressive dance moves. His performance offers an attractive musical complement to the soul that will be on full display when his second album is released.

MiG's music, MiG's soul - photo by Cammy D.

People who have seen MiG on stage in Burn the Floor or We Will Rock You sing the praises of his professionalism and magnetism in major productions. Others who have seen MiG on Rockstar: INXS or have seen him up close and personal as he sings his own music say it can't get any better. Some people have been fortunate enough to see him shine in both worlds.

Regardless of whether you prefer one type of performance over the other, you'll get the best of MiG on his album. It will be just you and MiG, and this musical appetizer - the Blown Away e-card - will leave you starving for the main course. Dig in!

MiG Ayesa Heating It Up Down Under

The wildly popular production of Burn the Floor just began its run at The Palms at Crown in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and crowds are seeing a familiar face in the blistering production. MiG Ayesa, who grew up in Australia and launched his music career in Oz, comes from New York City to star as the male vocalist in the stirring celebration of dance.

Aussies had numerous opportunities to see MiG excel during his early years in live gigs, theater, movies and television. After leaving Australia, MiG Ayesa became a household name in the U.K. after his starring role in We Will Rock You. He then won hearts and minds as a finalist in the CBS-TV show Rockstar: INXS, displaying a stunning ability to master both rock and ballads. MiG cemented his popularity with his debut album, "MiG" (Universal/Decca), and performances in the U.K., Asia Pacific, Australia and the U.S.

And then there was Burn the Floor on Broadway...MiG lit up the stage like a New Year's Eve fireworks display. Even those who have virtually worn out MiG's album, watched Rockstar: INXS, and have seen him at live gigs multiple times, were amazed by MiG in Burn the Floor. He has a way of raising the bar when you think the bar has reached maximum elevation.

When Aussies get reacquainted with MiG on stage, they'll see a new side of him. MiG has grown, even beyond the impressive talent people were accustomed to seeing. He's a true professional, and strives to deliver an outstanding performance, every night, every song. He succeeds.

Part of the growth comes from MiG directly...he has collaborated with proven artists and put in countless hours to enhance his skills. His voice is more consistent and controlled than before, yet packed with feeling. The feeling reveals the other aspect of growth. MiG has always been able to sing with expression because of his warm and caring nature, but now conveys even more feeling. He has found success in his career, yet has also experienced his share of broken promises and disappointments. MiG may not realize it, but some of that emotion and vulnerability comes through in his singing. It makes his performances even richer and more meaningful for audiences, and he connects with them on a whole new level.

MiG revealing more depth in his music

MiG has added polish and feeling to his performances, yet his magnetic personality has remained. He still has the fun sense of humor, the ready wit, and the warmth. Aussies will notice that quickly if they talk with him after a show. In spite of all the worldwide travel and bright lights, he's still grounded.

MiG's still fun, still grounded - photo by Mary Beth

For those lucky enough to get tickets for Burn the Floor, it will be a performance to remember. MiG will also put his talents on display in Hats Off! The History of Showstoppers and on the February 25 episode of So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Australia will recognize the familiar face, hear the familiar voice...yet see a whole new side of MiG that reaches more deeply and dazzles more brightly.

Sparks Fly in MiG Ayesa's Broadway Debut

MiG Ayesa set the stage ablaze with a breakout Broadway debut in Burn the Floor. MiG seamlessly stepped into the role of star male vocalist in the torrid dance extravaganza beginning in early January at the Longacre Theater. He stoked the fire with impeccable vocals, a striking stage presence, and impressive dance moves.

The Broadway version of Burn the Floor featured some of the world's top dancers, the engaging Mary Murphy, the strong voice of Rebecca Tapia, and first-rate musicians. MiG blended with the outstanding cast, yet his charisma and exceptional talent stood out. As MiG proved in Rockstar: INXS and We Will Rock You, his versatility is dazzling. He excelled with a variety of musical styles. Burn the Floor amazed, with styles from the Samba to the Swing, from the Waltz to the Cha Cha.

The site of MiG's first Broadway show - The Longacre Theater

MiG sparkled in all numbers, yet some held particular appeal. He ignited the full house with The Dirty Boogie, showcasing a contemporary style and flair, and athletic dance moves. The stage came alive as standout vocals and dance flowed together into one steamy sea of talent.

The infectious and upbeat Magdalena was a big hit, as MiG mastered the song and revved up the crowd with an intense yet smooth delivery. He filled the stage with a remarkable presence and passion.

MiG between performances of Burn the Floor

Time stood still as MiG sang a captivating Burn for You, layered with yearning, angst and irresistible tenderness. There aren't many singers who can hold their own when volume and heavy instrumentals are stripped away, but MiG shines. He revealed even more depth of talent and emotion as he sang under the spotlight.

When energy and passion meet polish and precision, it's nothing short of perfection. MiG's dynamic performance in Burn the Floor created a buzz. It forged a promising path that many fans hope will include an enticing combination of both stage and live gigs.

MiG will join Burn the Floor as it goes on the road to Australia, beginning its run at The Palms at Crown, Melbourne, Victoria on February 20 and lasting through March 7. I saw the show on Broadway twice, and it wasn't enough. MiG is sensational in Burn the Floor, and the dancing and choreography are some of the best you'll ever see. Aussies - get your tickets while they last, and look forward to a superb musical experience.

Magical MiG Memories Countdown - #6 and #5

The countdown continues in the Top 10 Magical MiG Memories, in honor of Team MiG's four years of supporting and promoting MiG Ayesa. Check out the Team MiG Facebook Fan Page to see a photo album with selected pictures from the Top 10 Magical MiG Memories. So far the countdown is:

#10 - Rockstar: INXS
#9 - Cleveland Gigs
#8 - Team MiG Photo Shoot in LA
#7 - QUEEN Rock & Symphonic Spectacular

Onward and upward....

#6 - We Will Rock You Tour and Online Community Project

As the star attraction of the We Will Rock You - Asia Pacific Tour, MiG jetted to South Africa for rehearsals, and then began an almost year-long tour. MiG gained legions of fans as he wowed crowds in New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand. It presented a wonderful opportunity for MiG, and we were happy that people in the Asia Pacific could get introduced to the same incredible person and performer that we knew. At the same time, it was important to keep MiG's existing fans in the U.S., Philippines, U.K., Australia, Canada and other countries connected for all those months. It also gave us another way to promote MiG.

Nicole and Davyd from Aussie Queens (a Queen fan site) and I launched an online community project to include major MiG fan sites. It offered a great chance to bring everyone together. MiG kindly agreed to provide updates, which included a letter, radio interview, and videos. The ultimate video involved fans. We asked each fan group to submit a question for MiG. While at his hotel in Hong Kong, MiG created a video and took great care in answering every question with such warmth and humor. I was blown away. I shouldn't have been, because MiG strives for excellence in everything he does. If you watch MiG's video with answers to fans' questions, you'll be impressed too.

#5 - The Release of MiG's Debut Album

MiG had a dream of becoming a recording artist, and we anxiously waited for that dream to become a reality. The news that he'd be working with a world-class team and recording at such places as Abbey Road like the Beatles did, whipped us into a frenzy. MiG was so deserving of that support and collaboration. We chomped at the bit for a chance to listen to MiG's impeccable vocals and unparalleled emotion on a CD, iPod and the radio. Even more than that, we were ecstatic that MiG would have within his grasp something he'd worked tirelessly to achieve. After encountering a couple delays along the way, MiG persevered. It couldn't happen for a more special person. The CD, "MiG," was released in the Philippines and Australia before being unveiled in the U.S. and Canada (you can get it on Amazon or in the Store on MiG's Web site). The wait was too much to bear...but thanks to Rah at MiGCentral and our friends at MAP (MiG Ayesa Pinoy Fans), we could get our hands on the first release.

The album featured a masterful collection of classic songs elevated by MiG's talent and interpretation. I was amazed by how brilliantly MiG struck the perfect balance between passion and control in every note. The addition of three MiG originals, She Loved, You and I, and Could It Be (U.S. version), made the album priceless. As wonderful as the classics were, the originals showcased MiG's immeasurable talent, creativity and beautiful soul. After listening, we couldn't wait to post reviews and spread the word about such an artistic accomplishment.

Check out #4 and #3 tomorrow!

Cold Hands, Warm Heart for MiG Ayesa and UK Fans

MiG Ayesa heated up the crowd on a frigid night in Leeds with a peak performance that ended the summer season of the QUEEN Rock & Symphonic Spectacular. MiG starred with Kerry Ellis, Mazz Murray and Ricardo Afonso at Harewood House on September 4. The group left it all on stage and had a ball. The crowd forgot about their chattering teeth and shivering for a while, in spite of the sinking temperatures. Check out these videos of One Vision and We Will Rock You and you'll see why.

MiG gets the crowd into it

MiG Ayesa always warms a crowd, but on this night he also thoroughly warmed the hearts of two people in the audience. Wend, who is a member of Team MiG, and her husband, Geoff, went to see MiG and experienced an evening they won't forget. It started with a riveting performance by MiG that oozed with personality, as one can witness by Bicycle Race. One of the best ways to tell you how MiG's thoughtfulness touched Wend and Geoff is to share Wend's own words, photos and videos of the evening. Read on....

Wend's Account of the Special Evening
MiG rocked. It was a bittersweet performance as it was the last summer Queen Spectacular of 2009 so emotions were running high, which made the show even more special. All the singers seemed to make the most of their last evening together and blew the audience out of the water! In my opinion, it was the best show of the summer (the coldest, but the best)! And YES, it was soooo cold! MiG was really feeling it. Even with the several layers of clothing he had on, he still said he was "bloody freezing." At the end of singing I Want to Break Free, he included his words of "and I wanna warm up too..." just classic!

MiG does his best to warm up

Our evening was made even more special and unforgettable as Geoff was celebrating his 40th birthday, and MiG went out of his way to help the celebrations along. Anne-Louise had a fabulous cake arranged with a picture of Geoff and MiG at Clumber Park last year on it. We were able to get some great photos of MiG and Geoff holding the cake, while a few "old age" comments were being batted about. MiG continued to carry on the "40" theme by making "40" signs with his hands. After making an announcement on behalf of the park owner, he made one of his own, wishing his good friend Geoff a Happy 40th Birthday.

MiG and Geoff show off their smiles and the birthday cake

MiG and Wend brave the cold

The whole evening was just a dream come true. MiG does and says some of the sweetest things, which makes him a unique individual. That is why Geoff and I will continue to support him no matter what!

MiG rocks at the Queen Rock & Symphonic Spectacular

Although the summer season is complete, the sweet memories MiG gave Wend and Geoff, as well as other UK fans, will remain. There will be more performances, more gigs, and more appearances for MiG. You can bet that at every one, whether it's a massive crowd or an intimate one, MiG will make them feel the same way. That's who he is. And that's one reason he's so special to us.

A big thank you to Wend for sharing her words, photos and videos.

MiG Ayesa LIVE in New York - Part 1

I consider myself fortunate to have seen MiG Ayesa perform live many times since his popular days in We Will Rock You and on CBS-TV's Rockstar: INXS, but now MiG Ayesa has completely outdone himself. MiG pulled off a whirlwind week of performances in New York City and New Jersey, and this time left me speechless. Thank goodness blogs don't require speaking! I'll give you some insight into the adventure, and maybe you'll understand what makes MiG's fans count the days until MiG's next performance, video and album.

The first night began with MiG at The Australian, a hotspot at 20 W. 38th St. in New York City. The food was fabulous and the service even better. Matt and the rest of the team went out of their way to make our visit a special one. MiG was testing out a new keyboard, but the headset didn't detract from the performance in any way. MiG was his usual fun and friendly self, and hung out with us between sets. He asked if we had any requests and treated us to songs ranging from Piano Man to Buses and Trains, from Maybe I'm Amazed to Unchained Melody. I'm completely hooked on his original music, so was particularly fond of the beautiful message and imagery of One Sunset at a Time, the irresistible sweetness and vulnerability of Blown Away, and the heart-wrenching She Loved from his debut album. Some fun-loving patrons joined MiG to belt out You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin', which proved quite entertaining!

It's a guy thing - singing and dancing to You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'

What's MiG up to? That's one devilish grin!

Next stop on the Big Apple tour - Eight Mile Creek at 240 Mulberry St. A trip to New York wouldn't be complete without a night at Eight Mile Creek. Whether in high heels or flip flops, one feels comfortable and right at home at Eight Mile Creek. The food is fantastic, and the fun never ends. Andrew, Luke and Sarah deserve kudos for going above and beyond with their outstanding service.

MiG surprised us by jammin' with - as he called them - his merry band of men. What a talented group of musicians. MiG's voice is stunning without any music, and when he's backed by a first-rate band, it's out of this world. The incredible jam session set the crowd on fire, and many danced the night away. I marveled at the talent on display. In spite of seeing MiG sing on numerous occasions, I was thoroughly impressed by this side of him. It felt as though I was getting to discover something new and wonderful. MiG has got to be the best kept secret in New York. I can keep a secret, but this one should be shouted from the rooftop of the Empire State Building.

Having a laugh during the jam session

Keyboard magic

The night flew by, but we could console ourselves knowing the next gig of the weekend was on the horizon. Stay tuned for Part 2 of MiG LIVE in New York - with more pictures and tales of the amazing weekend. Also check out some of our tweets from New York on Twitter (search for #migny).

MiG Ayesa: Rockin' Good Time with Queen and Fans

MiG Ayesa rocked the night away with Queen when he starred in We Will Rock You on the Asia Pacific Tour and on London's West End. Now MiG Ayesa is gearing up for the QUEEN Symphonic Spectacular - a series of shows MiG will star in throughout the UK in July, August and September. The events match the brilliant music of Queen with the exquisite voices of MiG, other West End standout performers from We Will Rock You, a first-class orchestra, and in some shows a rock band.

Fans can see MiG and experience these performances at some picturesque locations - Alnwick Castle on July 18, Mercedes-Benz World on August 1, Broadlands on August 15, Castle Howard on August 21, and Harewood House on September 4. For more details, go to mig-music.com, click on the home page image, and visit the Tour page.

Some MiG Ayesa fans in the United Kingdom had a taste of this musical fare at two shows in Bournemouth in May. Like similar performances in 2008, the QUEEN Symphonic Spectacular offered epic arrangements and peak performances, and was enthusiastically received. Who can resist Bohemian Rhapsody, Who Wants to Live Forever, and We Will Rock You - especially when the songs are sung and played with the full approval of the band that created them?

The music was sublime in Bournemouth, and another highlight was the Meet & Greet with MiG in his dressing room. MiG graciously spent time with old friends and new faces - and it was captured on video. The videos are courtesy of Alicia, who is a member of the Team MiG Global Forum. Alicia came to us from our good friends at Aussie Queens, so Part One and Part Two of the video are posted on the Aussie Queens YouTube Channel. It will help you get to know MiG a little - so check it out.

When one can listen to fantastic music at gorgeous locations, it's a special combination. But when one can spend time with a star of the show who gives of himself, it's unforgettable.

MiG Ayesa: Refreshed and Re-Energized

MiG Ayesa has reason for a fresh, newfound energy, and what better time for MiG's music career to blossom than when spring bursts on the scene in New York City. MiG Ayesa recently recorded tracks at Bryan Adams' studio in Vancouver, Canada, has regular gigs at Eight Mile Creek in New York, and will be traveling to the United Kingdom in mid-May. While in the UK, MiG will take a prominent place on stage for the Queen Symphonic Spectacular in Bournemouth on May 15 and 16.

All of these activities and events are reasons for MiG to be excited - but it doesn't end there. MiG signed a cool partnership deal with 42 Below and the Brat Agency. The Brat Agency has shown fresh, innovative ideas and a spunk and style all its own. As for 42 Below, it can really pack a punch and make an impact - in more ways than one. The partnership, or "rock and roll cocktail" as they call it, has the potential to make a big splash on the music scene.

MiG rocks the house

MiG Ayesa brings something to the table that turns heads - a gorgeous voice, versatility and a special ability to connect with people. On numerous occasions, people who were diehard fans of other artists came to see MiG perform, met him, and suddenly put MiG at the top of their list of favorite artists. He makes quite an impression. MiG doesn't care what people look like, how old or young they are, or what they wear. He reaches people. That gift is no less impressive than the musical ability he was given. The gifts are so intertwined that it's impossible to separate the two, and it would be wrong to try. Whether MiG is belting out pedal to the medal rock and roll, delivering a shot of alternative rock, or ripping your heart out with a deep and expressive ballad, you know when he gets off stage he's going to be a guy who deserves your undying loyalty.

MiG has worked with a lot of talented people, from Brian May of Queen to Matthew Wilder, from Paul Buckmaster to Peter Frampton, just to name a few. A lot of great things have come from those relationships. One was MiG's starring role in the wildly popular We Will Rock You. Another is a fabulous debut album (Universal/Decca), "MiG," that's a thing of beauty. Beautiful voice, beautiful interpretation, beautiful arrangements. If you don't yet have it, I highly recommend it. It's the perfect introduction to getting to know MiG, and experiencing the twist and flavor he adds to classic songs. Then you'll be able to better appreciate the personality that will be coming through as he ventures into his original creations. You can get the CD from MiG's Store at mig-music.com.

For MiG, the sky's the limit

There's certainly an array of exceptional accomplishments for MiG to build on. If he remains true to the person he is, the sky's the limit. It appears 42 Below and the Brat Agency recognize MiG's potential, and it will be a terrific mix. It's going to be one refreshing "rock and roll cocktail" that creates quite a buzz.

This is an exciting opportunity for MiG to shine. At the right time, one's dreams can grow from unrealistic, to realistic, to realized, and something tells me MiG is close to realizing his dreams. Things have a way of working out when you let go and believe.

Keep the light shining and pass it on,

MiG Ayesa: Star Qualities

MiG Ayesa has experienced a wealth of sparkling moments in his music career. He has performed for a worldwide TV audience, filled auditoriums for We Will Rock You, and mesmerized live crowds with his original songs.

Even with all of MiG Ayesa's impressive achievements, some may think he isn't yet a "star." There are those who define a star as someone who makes millions of dollars in the entertainment industry. Others say it's someone with an enormous fan base. Still others would argue it's someone with expensive clothes and jewelry.

I view it differently. To me, five qualities make a true star...

1. A star has blazing talent.
MiG has an incredibly beautiful voice that stands on its own. One moment he can rock you to the core, and the next sing a touching ballad that makes your eyes well up with tears. And MiG's gifts for playing the keyboard and songwriting make for a powerful combination.

2. A star has an endless glow.
It comes from within, because through the arts one can express feelings, thoughts and experiences that words sometimes can't convey. There's a passion MiG has for music and performing that's a joy to see. It warms everyone around him.

3. A star illuminates even the darkest of nights.
When an artist has integrity and feels what he's singing, you can open your heart to the words and melodies. So many people have found MiG and his original music to be a source of healing and hope. When you meet him, you'll know what I mean.

4. A star never stops reaching to light a new corner of the sky.
A key to new discovery is exploring boundaries and stretching the limits of talent and ability. No matter how big a star gets, understanding that there's always more to learn leads to unimagined new heights. MiG has collaborated with other artists, tried new things, and continues to build on his talents.

5. A star shines the brightest when the world isn't watching.
The most brilliant display of the night sky appears when the world sleeps, and it's the same with people. Those in the limelight may smile when there's a camera in sight, but how they relate to people one-on-one reveals their character. A star realizes that behind every clap and cheer is a living, beating heart much like his own. MiG has made each person he's met feel special. The smile is genuine, the hug heartfelt.

In every way that really matters, MiG is already a star. No one shines brighter than he does. Everyone doesn't know it yet, but they will.

MiG Ayesa: The Journey

MiG Ayesa's road to becoming a recording artist has been quite a journey...MiG has starred in Ben Elton and Queen's We Will Rock You in London and the Asia Pacific, been voted to the Top 3 of CBS-TV's reality show Rockstar: INXS, and performed on tour around the U.S. Other impressive legs of MiG's journey have included releasing a stellar first album (Universal/Decca), having his music video "She Loved" on MTV-Asia, and his original song, "Like a Child's First Step" played on the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light.

To some artists, the only acceptable journey is standing-room-only concert halls every night, and girls screaming their name as they emerge from a private jet. But is that what true success really means? No - a very loud, emphatic, and resounding no.

Sometimes an artist doesn't find himself on the expressway to stardom he mapped out for himself, but instead on the scenic route. It may seem like a colossal wrong turn that adds time to the trip, but in reality it's the perfect road. Instead of speeding along on a straight highway, and seeing nothing but the car ahead, the scenic route offers snow-capped mountain peaks, blankets of white sand beaches, and skies painted with dazzling sunsets.

Beauty lives on the scenic route, from the freedom to enjoy solitude without a bodyguard, to being able to look into the eyes of people you've touched with your kind nature and original music. There are artists who don't have the freedom to go where they want without being chased down by photographers, and who never get the chance to see and feel how they touch others. MiG has those chances. He has touched numerous lives by signing every autograph, talking to every person who has waited to see him after a show, and treating people with respect and warmth.

Signing an autograph

Relating to the audience - photo by Cammy

Because of those actions, the remarkable music MiG has created has had more of an impact. Music that comes from the heart has even more power to touch people and make a difference, but people have to know the heart first.

Many have come to know MiG's heart. That's why he has so many people behind him. They believe in MiG's talent, and they believe in MiG. And many truly love MiG for the person he is, not because he's been on TV, or his name has been in lights. Some artists will never experience that kind of passion and support - a driving, never-say-die attitude that will make MiG's successes even sweeter.

Putting his heart into a song at Eight Mile Creek in New York

The expressway and the scenic route both reach the same destination. The secret is to recognize all the beautiful views that are found on the journey. There will be bumps and roads paved with broken promises, but over every horizon another panoramic view awaits. Giving up is never an option, because the final destination may be just around the next bend in the road. When MiG reaches the destination he so deserves, many of the people he's shared his heart with along the way will be there celebrating with him.

Keep the light shining, and pass it on.

MiG Ayesa: What We Need

When MiG Ayesa is rockin' and rollin', he makes hearts race and energy levels soar into the stratosphere. Audiences who saw MiG belt out the songs of Queen in We Will Rock You can attest to that fact, and throngs of viewers of CBS's Rockstar: INXS would agree MiG Ayesa commanded the stage in convincing style. There's a more mellow side of MiG too, and both styles have the spellbinding power to help you escape your cares and lose yourself in the music.

Sometimes losing yourself for a while is what you need most. Music can be soothing, it can lift you up and give you strength to face tomorrow. When an artist sings with passion and feels the words he's singing, the music can touch you, change you. The words and notes MiG Ayesa weaves together flow into the deepest and most empty parts of your soul, and refresh it like a spring rain. Even if in a small way, you're a better person after hearing it. It gives you hope, which you in turn will give others through your attitude and the choices you make. It reminds you that things are better than they seemed yesterday.

I went to see MiG perform at Eight Mile Creek in New York City several days ago, and was so touched by the person he is and by his performance. I've seen him on numerous occasions, and every time he seems more special. MiG has an incredible voice that is most impressive without the frills and masking of backup vocals or heavy instrumentals that many artists need. His voice stands on its own and captures you. MiG is genuine, a kind and loving person who deserves to be on a stage with millions watching every night. On this night MiG was in an intimate setting, and everyone in the full house was fortunate to experience it. He has a unique gift for connecting with people.

Music from the Soul

MiG Coaxing the Keys

The combination of MiG's unlimited talent, a giving heart and a great sense of humor made for an unforgettable night. It was also a pleasure to hear MiG sing with some other talented artists, including Luke, Gitano, Sara and Nate. I can't wait to go back to Eight Mile Creek for another Thursday night of MiG and friends, great food and an inviting ambiance (240 Mulberry St. in Soho - call ahead to make sure MiG will be there). Many thanks to Andrew and Luke for taking such good care of us.

MiG at the Mike

MiG took requests and sang favorites by Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, the Beatles and more. They would've been impressed, because MiG is a professional, and he puts so much into every song he sings. Every song was fabulous. Yet the biggest treasures of the evening were MiG Ayesa originals. The consensus by reviewers and fans on MiG's first album was that the originals were outstanding. That hasn't changed. We need an album of MiG originals. Whether it was Blown Away, I'm On My Way, She Loved, or others, they were beautiful. I could hear them a hundred times, and it still wouldn't be enough. There's something about MiG giving you a glimpse into his soul through his own creations. You experience an indescribable connection, and feel something inside of you has changed.

A Man With Style

It would take a label with vision to recognize an artist who can transform people. Maybe it's hard to see because there are so few artists who can do it. Some labels want an easy buck and follow the same tired old formula...others may see things as they could be and invest their dollars and experience into becoming a label that discovered what others may not have seen. One thing we need in today's world is an artist with class and sincerity we can believe in, who has the ability to communicate a belief in tomorrow and a love in today through his music and his personality. The world is longing for it. Every day, more people are realizing that man is MiG Ayesa. He's unique, and he's relevant. Now we just have to shine a light on it so more people can feel it.

MiG Ayesa: The Man's Got Style

MiG Ayesa has style - and not just one style. There's the MiG Ayesa who rocked the lights out with his portrayal of Galileo in Ben Elton and Queen's We Will Rock You. There's also the MiG Ayesa who handled classic rock songs with energy and ease on the CBS reality show Rockstar: INXS. MiG Ayesa has the musical talent, creativity and stage presence to make just about any song sizzle. Rock and roll seems effortless for MiG, yet he surely packs a punch.

MiG excels at these styles, yet there's another MiG Ayesa...the man who has a style all his own. You see it when you hear an original song from MiG's debut album. You also see it when you watch his "She Loved" video on YouTube or MTV Asia. You can't help but see it when you catch a live MiG performance.

When MiG Ayesa sings his heart out for an audience, he really does sing his heart out. There's so much of him in the words and notes. MiG shares it all with you. I marvel at how he can maintain a style that's so appealing and unique, and still create song after song that's fresh and intriguing. They're all so different, yet similar in style.

Perhaps MiG's style especially connects with others because there's a vulnerability about it. His voice is so true, so open, without being masked by loud music, boisterous back-up singers or gimmicks. He exposes every note for all to hear. As if that's not enough to embrace, MiG opens a window to his soul with lyrics and melodies that express his feelings about life and love. That kind of vulnerability is irresistible and lasting. I want to feel music, not only hear it. I also want to trust that an artist is genuine and sincere, and not simply "singing at" the audience. One can feel the difference. When the artist adds good humor and connects with those listening, it all comes together for a magic experience.

The MiG Ayesa we know, with his warmth and winning style, will be performing Thursday nights at Eight Mile Creek in Soho, New York City beginning February 12 at 7:30 p.m. It will be intimate, moving and memorable. There isn't a better type of venue to experience all MiG Ayesa's style has to give. It will be just you, MiG, and the music. If you're ready for a great voice and sensational music that makes you feel something, don't miss it. You may meet some new friends there from Team MiG who traveled from throughout the U.S. and Canada, because we can't bear to miss out on too many chances to see MiG and enjoy his very special style. I think after you see MiG Ayesa, you'll feel the same.

MiG Ayesa: Top 10 Rockstar Moments

MiG Ayesa dropped jaws on Rockstar: INXS with his singing, ability to capture a crowd, and musical prowess. And MiG Ayesa didn't stop there...he turned heads with his respect for fellow rockers and a charm that should be illegal. MiG made one great impression after another. It's a tall order to choose the best of the best. Yet since we're on the subject, I'll give it a whirl. Behold my view of MiG Ayesa's Top 10 Rockstar Moments. Some may surprise you...

#10 - Expecting to be in the Bottom 3
As the show neared its completion and the remaining rockers were asked if they thought they were in the Bottom 3, MiG raised his hand. It seemed extremely unlikely that would happen, and it didn't, but MiG's humility was touching.

#9 - Sharing the Spotlight with Marty and Jordis

It was MiG Ayesa Day after MiG performed Baby, I Love Your Way, and he earned the encore. When MiG took a seat at the piano and started to play, he stopped and asked the ultra-talented Marty Casey and Jordis Unga to join him. They had given excellent performances, and MiG was more interested in celebrating their accomplishments than in stomping out the competition.

#8 - What You Need
When MiG got his shot at singing an INXS song after finally hitting the Bottom 3 (when only 4 rockers remained), he nailed it. That was worth waiting for! MiG laid it on the line, and then raised the roof.

#7 - Need You Tonight
All who got to hear the audio of MiG's Need You Tonight can count themselves among the lucky. It was one steamy song. I can't imagine it being sung any better. Of all the INXS songs MiG has sung on the show or live, that one will always be my favorite.

#6 - Paint It Black
Although Paint It Black is a classic, MiG's arrangement was incredibly interesting and creative. To me it was more dramatic and he uncovered layers of the song I hadn't noticed before. When he extended his arms to the side and the music stopped mid-song, it took my breath away.

#5 - All Right Now
I've always liked this song, but never as much as when MiG Ayesa sang it. That night I thought MiG had it all...the voice, the energy, the moves, the stage presence. He commanded the song, and has every time he has sung it since.

#4 - Baby, I Love Your Way
MiG knocked it out of the park with his rendition of the Peter Frampton song. MiG combined a beautiful arrangement and dazzling vocals as he played the grand piano and brought tears to the eyes of those listening. Peter Frampton even called MiG to tell him how impressed he was.

#3 - Home In Me
MiG has questioned his decision to sing Home In Me rather than a more upbeat original. INXS had likely already made up their mind they wanted a bad boy, so the song choice didn't matter. What did matter was the comfort Home In Me brought. Although the song is about loss, it continues to give hope and comfort. The effect of the song lives on. It was the perfect choice.

#2 - Lola
The song had appeal, but when MiG sang it, it suddenly had some sizzle. It was the first episode of Rockstar: INXS I had seen, and it offered quite an introduction to a man named MiG Ayesa. It was a standout performance, and MiG served notice he was a rocker to be reckoned with.

#1 - Bohemian Rhapsody
There were shockwaves when it was revealed MiG had decided to sing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Some were concerned INXS would dismiss MiG as a "theater guy" since he had sung the song in We Will Rock You. I was ecstatic. To me, someone who has performed in theater and in bands is "on" every night, knows how to deliver to a crowd, and is a consistently great performer. MiG's choice of Bohemian Rhapsody was the ultimate show of strength. He selected a song he loved, and it made a statement - "I'm MiG Ayesa. I'm not going to lie, manipulate or play games to win. This is where I've been, and this is who I am."

INXS didn't choose MiG. We did.

MiG Ayesa: Reflections

As one year fades away and another has burst on the scene, it's the ideal time for reflection. Today that reflection centers on MiG Ayesa. Looking back, MiG won a legion of fans when he was in bands, in shows, in We Will Rock You, and on the CBS reality show Rockstar: INXS. I remember the first time I saw MiG, which was when he sang "Lola" on Rockstar: INXS. He was quite the show-stopper! He followed it up with one killer performance after another. The votes poured in for MiG week after week, and he earned his way to the Final Three.

On Rockstar, MiG's talent was undeniable, his stage presence and versatility unmistakable. But there was something else...something that grabbed people and wouldn't let them go. Here was an immensely talented artist, separated from family and friends, alone in a new country, getting very little sleep and performing on a world stage. And what did MiG do? In spite of the pressure, he stayed true to himself. MiG Ayesa had the courage and class to pat his competition on the back rather than stab them in the back. He didn't try to win at any cost. He chose to treat both rockers and fans with warmth and integrity. Perhaps that didn't make enough waves for some reality TV junkies, but it made a tidal wave of an impression on many in the TV audience. There was no bigger winner than MiG.

MiG gained countless fans after Rockstar just by being himself. He connected with every audience, took time for every fan, and treated everyone at gigs like they mattered. That's the way people should be treated, but that behavior isn't something you often see from an artist who has graced our stages and screens. No one creates talent, but is blessed with it. It can be nurtured and developed through hard work, but it's not created. Some forget that, and it leads to egos on overdrive. When an artist treats fans like real people, it's refreshing because it's classy, it's humble, and it makes a very special connection that lasts. When MiG treats fans with respect and kindness, it reflects back on him, because it inspires genuine affection, loyalty, and a passion to tell others about MiG. When you combine that with his incredible voice and the beautiful music he creates, it's magic. It makes MiG stand head and shoulders above so many others, and is a story waiting to be told.

When one makes such an impact on others through warmth and accessibility, it brings a lot of responsibility. It's challenging to always be on your game, in spite of disappointments or misunderstandings that can occur. No one can always say the perfect thing, or always do the perfect thing. But I believe MiG will give it his best try. When MiG shares his heart, he shines the brightest. It brings out the light in others as well, and the impact grows and grows. An interesting thing about light...its radiance reaches in all directions, illuminating even the unlikeliest of destinations...and when you reflect it back, darkness has nowhere to hide.

Because of the person and artist MiG is, fans travel hundreds of miles to see him perform. In fact, some will be traveling to see MiG do a short set January 16 in New Jersey as a special guest of HotDog Band. If you can get there, don't miss it! You'll see firsthand why Team MiG cares so much about MiG, and puts so much into spreading the word to the world. Read more about MiG's gig.

Help keep the light shining for MiG and his growing number of fans. Pass it on.

Best wishes for a bright 2009!

MiG Ayesa: His Act of Kindness

Sometimes what seems like one simple act of kindness touches more people than you could have imagined. It influences others, and ignites one flame of hope after another. MiG Ayesa is a man responsible for many acts of kindness. When fans have attended his performances, MiG has treated them with respect and warmth. He's eagerly agreed to autographs and photos, no matter how long it's taken. Today though, I'm thinking of another act of kindness by MiG that continues to make a difference, and it might make a difference for you, too.

A few years ago, MiG willingly gave of his time and talent to perform at a benefit for the Salvation Army in London, England. Surrounded by a first-rate orchestra and a choir with a multitude of divine youthful voices, MiG gave what to me was the most beautiful performance of Christmas songs I've ever heard. The voice was stunning, the arrangements impressive, yet the light in MiG's eyes is what made the performance unforgettable.

If you watch the video on YouTube, you'll see what I mean. There's a link to it in the right column of this blog (Video of MiG Christmas Songs). Thanks to Mary Beth of Team MiG for posting the video. Although the video screen caps below aren't the sharpest of images, they show the sincerity and joy that came through in MiG's performance.

In addition to raising funds for the Salvation Army that night, more good came from MiG's act of kindness. Team MiG members donated hundreds of dollars to the Salvation Army as a Christmas gift for MiG. It expressed our feelings for MiG, and helped a great organization help others in need. In addition, seeing the love in MiG's performance touched some people very deeply and made a positive impact in their lives.

An act of kindness does just as much for the person giving as the person receiving. That's where part of the joy in MiG's eyes came from. He gave of himself, and the lyrics meant something to him. Now, maybe his act of kindness can reflect back on him again. Maybe it can show the world the special person and performer MiG Ayesa is. It can refresh the memories of those who haven't kept up with MiG since Rockstar: INXS, or since MiG starred as Galileo in We Will Rock You and sang the fabulous music of Queen. It also can lead others to discover MiG.

And maybe when MiG's next album is released, you'll buy it or download it. When he performs, maybe you'll go see him. Or maybe you'll request his songs on the radio, or tell others about this supremely talented artist. It will help MiG achieve the dream of being a successful recording artist that he's chased for a long time. And you'll get the benefit of some amazing music, and experience MiG's kindness for yourself if you meet him.

It's Christmas, so perhaps that will spark interest in our own acts of kindness. Donate to the Salvation Army or another worthy charity. Volunteer your time soon to help someone who needs it. Or tell someone you care, and strive to make your actions match your words. You never know how much a simple act of kindness can enrich the lives of the giver and the receiver...and what your act of kindness can ignite.

Help keep the light shining for MiG. Pass it on. And don't miss the video...it will remind you what Christmas is all about.

Merry Christmas!

MiG Ayesa: On Stage or On His Own?

People around the world have been treated to seeing MiG Ayesa perform in a role onstage. Most recently, he brought the house down as Galileo in the high-octane rock concert also known as We Will Rock You. In his leading role, MiG performed from England to New Zealand, from South Korea to Singapore, from Hong Kong to Thailand.

Audiences couldn't help but notice that MiG's stage presence, professionalism and outstanding vocals made every show memorable. Many people attended multiple performances, and MiG delivered every time. He showed some moves I hadn't seen before! When you can see such talent and hear amazing music like that of Queen in We Will Rock You, it's an experience too spectacular to miss.

MiG in We Will Rock You - Asia Pacific Tour

But what about the other side of MiG...the side when he reveals the passion he has for singing songs he's written, or collaborated with other talented songwriters to create? MiG has been in bands his whole life, and the desire to become an international recording artist has burned inside of him for a long time. He made prime time by being on Rockstar: INXS, and he's beyond ready for more prime time. His debut album, "MiG," included three originals that consistently got rave reviews. His vocal range is stunning, and oh that lower register. It's mesmerizing. MiG has so many layers, with an equal ability to rock the lights out and convey an irresistible tenderness in a ballad.

There's something about hearing MiG singing his own music live - you feel as though he's sharing his heart with you. He connects with each person in the audience, and reaches deep into your soul with his lyrics, melodies and personality. You really feel something, just as he feels every word, every note. You believe the words he's singing to everyone. He takes you somewhere you've never been before. And you want to go back, again and again. You ache for the next performance, the next song.

Feeling the music

If MiG chose to perform in New York on Broadway, I'd do my best to be in the first row, enthusiastically taking in a stellar performance. It could be nothing less than stellar, because MiG strives for perfection and gives it all he has every night. As great as MiG would be on stage again, I'd also long for the nights he's living his dream, singing his own songs and taking each person with him on an unforgettable musical journey. A heart like that should be shared.

Pass it on,

MiG Ayesa: Meet Mr. January

Some have asked if our 3rd annual calendar featuring MiG Ayesa is out, and you bet it is! The 2009 version was created through international teamwork, with photos taken in several different countries. The MiG calendar has been such a great way to promote our guy, because who can resist that smile when they see it in your office at work, your room or school locker? People take notice, and it opens a door to tell them about MiG Ayesa. And the very small profit is used toward doing more to promote MiG.

A sincere thanks to all who helped make this happen, including Al, Cammy, Donald, Donna, Fuchsia, JC, Jennifer, Jeremy, Laura, Nancy, Su, Wend, and of course, MiG!

You can find the wall calendar in the Team MiG Store at www.cafepress.com/teammig (see link in right column of this blog). The calendar can be shipped to most locations around the world. I certainly couldn't resist the photos, and already ordered one for myself!

The calendar cover photo below was taken by Su and JC in Hong Kong.

A very special thanks to Fuchsia in Japan for coordinating with Su, JC and Donald for their photos.

Creating the calendar is always such a fun project. Imagine, having to sort through picture after picture of that cute MiG Ayesa. Darn the luck! The hardest part is narrowing it down to 12 photos. Since Team MiG can't offer a 60-month calendar, you'll get to see some of those pictures posted here in the future. As for the MiG calendar, wait until you see Mr. February, Mr. March, Mr. April...

Ok, ok. I'll show you a few more. This photo was taken by Wend in England...

A shot taken by Cammy in the U.S....

And another I took in the U.S....

Time to sign off for today...have to make sure the courier with the precious cargo didn't arrive undetected with that MiG Ayesa calendar...

Remember, help keep MiG shining on, and pass it on.
